He’s keen to hear ideas on how we could improve stuff from your first enquiry
With a great team, each doing what they do best, Jules is at his happiest wandering from campfire to campfire chatting to people from all walks of life, hearing their story, sharing a little of their journey and when he’s not on duty, a glass or two of their ale!
He’s keen to hear ideas on how we could improve stuff from your first enquiry through to how you feel when you get home and reflect upon your stay.
On his day off and during less busy times of the year he loves to spend time with Sandra, going out to county pubs with their dogs and finding new walks – usually involving brambles, slippery slopes and river crossings! They also enjoy cycling and running together.
He usually gets out on his mountain bike one evening a week with a group of friends and his son sliding around the Mendip hills and on the rare occasion it’s a sunny day and he’s not over the campsite he’ll grab a few mates and get out on his motorbike for a blast further afield.
She is the glue that keeps us all on track
Sandra is the glue that keeps us all on track and provides the fuel that keeps us all going! She’s a great mum to Kelly and Steve and a fab wife to Jules. She loves cooking healthy but tasty food and making sure we all stay in good shape throughout the year.
She’s often one of the first people you’ll meet when you arrive making sure you feel welcome, explaining where you’re going to pitch and answering any questions you have.
Behind the scenes she looks after the books for both the campsite and Steve’s log and fencing business as well as running a busy home and taking care of two hairy animals – Spanner and Woody as well as two hairy men!
In between all this she spends time cooking great food, keeping an eye on her mum and dad, as well as Jules!
Kelly keeps us in order!
Kelly keeps us in order! She loves to organise things (thank goodness someone does!) and as we’ve grown in just 4 years from 800 people to 18,000 a year she’s put in place processes behind the scenes that somehow make things work for the team and more importantly you our customer!
She manages to find great people to join the team and makes sure they know what they need to do, when they need to do it and how we’d like it done. She has high standards and runs a tight ship – she’s keen to find people doing stuff right but will jump on anything that misses the mark!
So, you’ll likely bump into Kelly in Reception but if she’s not there she’ll be making sure the facilities are up to standard or carrying out her favourite task as “Head Womble”, jumping on rubbish in a wheelie bin!
Kelly lives on her partner’s dairy farm so when she’s not telling us what to do she’s either milking or mucking out the yard. Her time off is spent looking after her horse Charlie, puppy Mollie or with her partner Dan meeting up with family and friends and like her mum, cooking great food!
Steve keeps an eye on the maintenance of the site
Steve keeps an eye on the maintenance of the site, spotting things that need fixing, suggesting how best to fix them and often working with one of us to sort the issue. Like his sister he has very high standards and isn’t afraid to tell us if we’re not meeting them!
On busy weekends he’ll be showing you to your pitch and patrolling late at night to make sure that everyone on site has a peaceful stay.
He runs his own log and fencing business and each year supplies us with 6-7000 sacks of logs for you to watch burn as you chat around your campfire.
So, when he’s not onsite, he’s felling trees, processing them into logs, erecting fencing or laying decking.
In his spare time, he’ll be out on his road or mountain bike likely training for his next triathlon or away in the camper with his partner Jo.
He loves to spend time with his wife Jo and their two boys Justin and Tommy
Steve and his family came to stay for a few weeks in December 2015 and we soon asked him to join the team not long after.
We were looking for a willing, enthusiastic, motivated Manager who really “got” what we’re all about. Steve was looking for a new home for him and his young family and they arrived at just the right time.
Living on-site, Steve is on-call 24/7 during the summer months and never complains if disturbed late at night to deal with something be it a question or an emergency. He’s given us peace of mind as we know he’s got our backs and both he and Jo have become an invaluable part of our team.
As well as welcoming you and making sure you feel at home, Steve takes care of the day to day tasks such as mowing, cleaning, fixing, managing rubbish, delivering fire-kits as well as looking after our growing stock of animals!
In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his wife Jo and their two boys Justin and Tommy. He also teaches Aikido to young people and is training to achieve his black belt accreditation – so don’t mess with him!
Care-worker and being a great mum to her boys
Jo has a job as a care-worker as well as being a great mum to her boys. She loves welcoming our guests and like Steve, nothing is ever too much trouble.
During the summer she’s a valuable part of our Welcome team evenings and weekends but is willing to turn her hand to whatever needs doing around the place.
Justin now helps his dad on the “log run” and Tommy can usually be found helping out in Reception or “stickering” cars on arrival!
Jo is obsessed with Dalmatians so if you want her to be your next best friend, simply buy her anything white with black spots!
